WORKSHOP INFORMATION

Our Rainbow Day workshops are specifically tailored to each grade, from Kindergarten to Year 6 so that no-one is overlooked or misses any of the vital information. All of our workshops have been written by teachers and are based on:

•    The Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing’s Australian Guide to Healthy
       Eating
•    The Victorian Essential Learning Standards’ Health and Physical Education Curriculum

You can be assured, therefore, that all of the content is correct, current and compatible with your school’s curriculum.

With knowledge and entertainment, it will no longer be a choice between fruit and biscuits; it will become a choice between red, green or orange!

The Frugies Workshops are specifically designed to ensure each child enjoys an entertaining, fun-filled time while learning important healthy eating information.

All our workshops cover 3 main components:

1.   The recommended daily intake of fruit and vegetables
2.   Eating a rainbow of colour everyday from the 7 colours of the rainbow
3.   What these foods do for our bodies

PLUS each workshop focuses on:

Kindergarten Workshop:

We divide the Kindergarten Workshop into two age groups: 3 and 4 year olds. Both groups are very similar, with some minor adjustments for the 3 year olds, in keeping with their level of comprehension.
The Kindergarten Workshop focuses on:

Colours and Numbers - especially the number 7

As they dance, sing and play along with The Frugies during the workshop, the children will learn:

• about different fruits and vegetables
• what different types of fruit and vegetables do for our bodies
• why it is so important to make healthy eating choices

Prep Workshop:

We know that Prep kids love all things magical, so our Prep Workshop focuses on:

“The Magical Powers of Fruit and Vegetables”

As they dance, sing and play along with The Frugies during the workshop, the children will learn:

• about different fruits and vegetables, and the ways in which they help our bodies
• how many fruit and vegetables they should include in their diet each day
• why it is so important to make healthy eating choices

Y1&2 Workshop:

Year 1 and 2 kids love challenges and learning new things so we focus their special workshop on:

• How to tell the difference between fruit, vegetables and fruit-vegetables
• The edible parts of the plants

Year 3&4 Workshop:

Year 3 and 4 kids relish any opportunity to delve down deep into lessons they are learning so we focus their special workshop on:

• How fruit and vegetables grow
• How to recognise and match the inside and outside of various fruits and vegetables

Year 5&6 Workshop:

Fifth and sixth graders are the ‘big kids’ of the school and our workshop empowers them to make responsible eating choices by focusing on:

• Body image
• Making a healthy lunch
